Tests That Are Necessary During Infertility

A couple who is facing difficulty in getting pregnant has to go through the various test. Your doctor will schedule the test based on your medical history. It is not important that you have to go through all the test. Additionally, these practices can vary from doctor to doctor. Test are given below which are necessary to check infertility.

  • Medical history

The infertility treatment starts with interviewing you and your partner. Your doctor will ask you about your medical condition in detail such as if the person is facing the issue of thyroid, sexually transmitted disease. It is very important to ask everything and in detail, because on the basis of this, he will start the further process.

  • Physical examination

The couple will undergo a general physical examination and this also includes a gynecological check-up for the woman.

  • Semen analysis

The problem of infertility in men is due to low sperm count or poor quality of sperm. Around 40% of cases are because of this reason so analysis of the man’s semen is the first thing the doctor will ask for. The sample is then analyzed to check if the sperm count is present or not. Additionally, it also checks the shape, motility, and appearance of the sperm. Lastly, it is cultured to check if there is any type of infection.

  • Hormone screening

Hormonal balance is important as ovulation and implantation depend on that. For this, the woman is asked for a blood test to check the level of hormones. Several samples might be required throughout the menstrual cycle to check each hormone at every point of time.

  •   Intrauterine ultrasound exam

To detect the fibroid tumor and ovarian cysts the ultrasound is very helpful. This procedure is painless and it uses sound waves to examine the body’s interior. In this process, a wand-shaped transducer is inserted into the vaginal opening. The sound waves which are sent help in showing the images, which are displayed on the screen.

  • Cervical mucus test

This test will examine if the sperm can survive in the woman’s body and reach the egg for fertilization. In this, a bit of cervical mucus is sampled and then examined for several hours. Additionally, this test is done after the ovulation. Mostly, the doctors ask the patient to use the ovulation prediction kit.

  • Hysterosalpinogram (HSG)

To check if the Fallopian tubes are blocked or not this test is very helpful. This is an X-ray which uses a special dye and it is injected through the cervix into the fallopian tube and it also checks other structural abnormalities.
